Review/recenzija: Tessa Dare: A Night to Surrender/Noć predaje

A Night to Surrender is a first novel in the Spindle Cove series by Tessa Dare. It was published in 2011 and was followed by four more sequels. I will probably be writing about two more of them, so be sure to come back, but now let's focus on the one in question.

A sad, back to business

Review/recenzija: Arielle Ford: The Soulmate Secret/ Tajna srodne duše

You must think, after reading the title of this post, that I'm suffering from some weird holiday induced depression right now, since I went so far to read a book about how to find the love of my life. You're right. I'm in a bad state. I can't do this alone...

Aaaand I'm kidding, people! No fear of me flooding you with tears 😁

The Soulmate Secret- Manifest the Love of Your Life with the Law of Attraction by Arielle Ford is another one of many that studies the Law of Attraction and its influence on our life. More precisely, on our love life. Since I'm a fan of this king of literature, I wanted to know a bit about what this one is describing too.

Wrap up 2016- 10 najboljih

Review/recenzija: Naomi Novik: Uprooted/Iskorijenjena

There are some serious opinions shared by so many bloggers about this book. Seems like Uprooted, a fantasy novel by NaomiNovik has its lovers everywhere, but there are also those who don't share those warm feelings. I was having a nice weekend with this one, so I'll just state what I think about this book. Then I'll let you decide.

Review/recenzija: E.K.Johnston: A Thousand Nights/ Tisuću noći

A Thousand Nights. A novel by E.K.Johnston, as magical as it is unexpected. Intrigued by its covers, I couldn't wait to read this beauty, and now I can only say thank god I did! For those who will enjoy this book as much as I did, its sequel, Spindle, was published earlier this year, so go on and find it too.
After those few words of praise, nothing's stopping me anymore from moving on and giving you all the reasons why you should read this book as soon as possible.

Review/recenzija: Elle Kennedy: The Deal/Pogodba

First of all, I have to admit I'm sorry not to read books by Elle Kennedy before. Whyyyyy didn't I?!
I've heard about this author only after one of Croatian publishers published the first novel in her Off-Campus series. Now I'm addicted.
This review is about the first novel from the mentioned series, The Deal. There are 3 more novels in the series (The Mistake, The Score, The Goal), but those deserve their own reviews.

Review/recenzija: Sabaa Tahir: An Ember in the Ashes/Žar u peplu

Amazon named An Ember in the Ashes best young adult book of 2015, did you know that? I thought it would be a good post opener ;)
Film rights were optioned by Paramount Pictures in 2014, before the book was even published and Mark Johnson is to produce the film.  Are there any more excuses not to read this book? I don't think so.
If you want to know and see more, visit the official website of the author Sabaa Tahir and look for the book trailer. Do you like the costumes and the weapons? I can't wait this movie to finally happen!
Oh, and don't forget to look for the sequel, A Torch Against the Night. It was published a few months ago.

Interliber 2016: intervju s Nakladom Neptun

Review/ recenzija: Mats and Susan Billmark: Learn To Live: The Book That Can Change Your Life/ Nauči živjeti: knjiga koja ti može promijeniti život

Are you a fan of self-help literature? Did you just roll your eyes after seing me ask the previous question? One more question: do you know what this term self-help even mean?

A lot of people feel threatened by this term, mostly because of the help part. People are afraid other people will declare them crazy or in some way mentally or emotionally challenged if they admitted using that kind of books to improve their life.
Isn't that sad?

Review/recenzija: Jill Mansell: A Walk in the Park/ Kad bi ljubav bila jednostavna

What a nice treat this novel was! I've never read a book by Jill Mansell before (if you have, you can comment about it bellow), but A Walk in the Park was one of those novels that leave you hungry for more.

Review/recenzija: Jennifer Ashley: The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie/ Ludilo lorda Iana Mackenzieja

Hello romance lovers. I have a question for you. Where are you from? Is English your first language? Are you reading books in English or in your native language? Ok, those were three questions, but I asked those with a reason. I was just thinking about the small number of contemporary romance/erotic novel that our publishers translate for us in Croatia- especially the novels of some new foreign authors- and wanted to ask you about how those things work in your country? If you aren't a native English speaker, are you satisfied with the number of different authors you can find in your bookstores? Do you like reading novels written in the past 2 or 3 decades or something newer?
What about historic romance novels? Do you think they are of better quality if written nowadays, with all the technology within reach that can provide us with any kind of information about past times?

So many questions I have today and all of that because of The Madness of Lord Ian MacKenzie, the first novel in Mackenzies & McBrides series.
. Every time I read an historic romance, I get an urge to start comparing those written before and the ones authors get to publish today, but I never actually do it. Do you? Let me know!

Review/recenzija: Stephanie Witter: Dex

I have to admit something.
For the first time in more than two years, today I almost forgot to write a review. Normally I finish my reviews on Monday and then meditate over them until Wednesday or Thursday, so once I publish them, I'm perfectly satisfied with them. This week I had some interesting things to do, so no wonder I forgot. Let me tell you what it was about: three days from now, on Sunday, I'm organizing a meetup with a few of my readers, and one of the biggest publishers in Croatia, Algoritam, will be sponsoring us with a few of their books! I'm soooo excited about it! I was working all week to make it all go perfectly on Sunday, so wish me luck!

Anyway... for this week's review I chose the first installment in Kinky Shine series by Stephanie Witter, the novel Dex. The ARC was provided by the publisher via NetGalley so I want to thank them for this beautiful book.

Review/recenzija: Marie Rutkoski: The Winner's Trilogy

Facebook, Instagram, Goodreads, this series has taken over every platform I use! There are people everywhere talking about The Winner's Curse trilogy. How could I not to read it? Impossible!
The Winner's Curse, The Winner's Crime and The Winner's Kiss are the best read i had in the last couple of months.

Review/ recenzija: Elizabeth Hoyt: Notorious Pleasures/Zabranjeni užici

Everything started with Wicked Intentions, the first novel in Maiden Lane series by Elizabeth Hoyt. I didn't write about that book, but I decided the author deserved some sort of acknowledgment from me, since I did enjoy that first book, and then this second one too. That's how the review of Notorious Pleasures came to be :)

Review/recenzija: Victoria Schwab : This Savage Song

I was very excited about reading This Savage Song.  It's a new urban fantasy novel by Victoria Schwab, published in 2016, and what makes it even better is that the sequel is to be published in 2017. That means I won't have the time to forget what this one was about before I get to read the next book. Lol :P

Review/recenzija: J.K.Rowling, John Tiffany & Jack Thorne: Harry Potter and the Cursed Child- Parts One and Two/ Harry Potter i Ukleto dijete

Review/recenzija: Stacey Marie Brown: Collector series

For quite some time now was I looking for a good fantasy series or novel, but you know how it goes, so many books, so little time. In the end, Stacie Marie Brown was a logical choice. I had an amazing experience reading her Darkness series, so it was only natural for me to read the Collector series too.

There are 4 novels in the Collector series:  City in Ambers, The Barrier Between, Across the Divide and From Burning Ashes (the last one was published in June 2016) and today I'll be writing about all four of them.

Review/ recenzija: Melody Anne: Billionaire Bachelors/ Milijarderova pobjeda, Milijarderov ples, Milijarderova ljubav

Welcome back, everyone! For today's pleasure I recommend you to make some coffee and buckle up. It's gonna be a bumpy ride.
Don't say I didn't warn ya.

I will be writing about three novels from Billionaire Bachelors series by Melody Anne, The Billionaire Wins the Game, The Billionaire's Dance and  The Billionaire Falls (written in 2011). There are 4 more books in this series that I didn't read for the reasons I'm about to explain. You can always find the details on Goodreads.

Review/recenzija: Mandi Beck: Caged Love

A few weeks ago one of my readers contacted me with a request for me to review some books by one of her favorite authors. I've never heard of Mandi Beck before, but what the heck, can't hurt to research a little.
I've found out she has written 3 novels so far: Stoned (Wrecked series),  Love Hurts and Love Burns (Caged Love series) and have since then read all three of them, because did you see those covers? Three letters, s.e.x.

Today I will be writing about Love Hurts and Love Burns because I liked those two better an they offer more material for me to write about.

Review/recenzija: Judith McNaught: Something wonderful/ Nešto prekrasno

I can't believe I'm reviewing a book that was written almost 30 years ago. Yep, Something Wonderful, an absolutely wonderful (yes, I'm very verbally gifted today) book was written in 1988, and that makes it 2 years my senior :P
The book was recently translated to Croatian, and that's actually how I came into contact with it. I read other books by Judith ( Whitney, My Love, A Kingdom of Dreams and Until You) too, but I have to admit that this one is by far my favorite. And not just mine, according to Goodreads, Something Wonderful is "one of her most beloved novels of all time"!

Giveaway rules/ Pravila darivanja

Helloooo,
I'm happy to say that blog Kljuc za knjigu will very soon, on August 14th, be celebrating it's 2nd Birthday! <3
Usually, in the light of an upcoming event I would host giveaways so this (short) post will be about those giveaways and some information I would like to give you about it.
If you're my follower, you probably noticed that there aren't any giveaways for people outside the countries of ex Yugoslavia.

To explain that, I would first like to explain another thing I consider important in this case.
In the end of every post I write, I usually ask you to let us know what you think or leave a comment about anything you find interesting or not. In my case, I don't do it to brag around about how many people read my posts, but to find out how many of you are truly following me and my work.
And why is that so important?
Because I don't host giveaways to send books to some random people who wandered to my blog by mistake. No, I want to send my book to the person who appreciates my work and is by my side step by step.
If no one comments, I don't know how many of you are out there, so I don't host giveaways.

So, the thing is simple, actually: if you are my true follower, let my know by commenting on my posts and we will have fun!

Your Rose :*

Review/recenzija: A.G.Riddle: Departure/Raskrižje

Inside of the science fiction genre, fiction is the part I can drown myself into. Science part, not so much. I'm a person of magical beings, not machines. You can take me anywhere, past, present, future, underground, wherever you like, but do it by some magical, invisible, unexplainable force. Don't do it by some scientifically explainable process. Show me beasts, vampires, fae..., because I don't like robots.

After reading the description of the Departure by A.G.Riddle there was no denying that the book was a part of science fiction genre, but something was telling me that it wasn't as hardcore as I would imagine it. So I was getting more curious about it week after week, and finally, after all of the reviews I had planned to write about, I decided it was time for me to dedicate this week's review to the Departure.

First and most important thing I need to say: this novel is amazing!

Review/recenzija: Erin McCarthy: Fast Track series

I'm so happy to find the Fast Track series! I just spent the last two weeks enjoying these 8 books and having so much fun! I read a positive review of one of my Goodreads friends who wrote about the novels, and made a smart (thank you very much!) decision to read it myself.

Here we meet a bunch of people who start as mere acquaintances and live to become a real family. It's a story that shows us that family is more than just blood and people can always change to the better.
These 8 novels in front of you will give you a dose of love ache and heartbreaking moments, will offer you so many opportunities to laugh and cry and let you meet so many different, yet interesting people, that you will not feel the wish to put any of them down.

After reading numerous historical romance novels lately, this contemporary romance series was exactly what I needed.

There are 8 novels in this series: Flat-Out Sexy, Hard and Fast, Hot Finish, The Chase, Slow Ride, Jacked Up, Full Throttle and Final Lap (published 2008-2014).

Review/recenzija: Sabrina Jeffries: To Pleasure a Prince/Kako udovoljiti princu

Since I read In the Prince's Bed a few weeks ago, I couldn't wait to get my hands on its sequel, and the second book in series Royal BrotherhoodTo Pleasure a Prince. If this is the first time you came across me mentioning this particular historical romance series, you can find the review of the first novel here, so you don't miss anything important.

We've already met Marcus North, Viscount Draker, in the first installment of the mentioned series, where we got to know him as a cold and calculated man who hates...well, practically everyone.
In To Pleasure a Prince we meet his lady, his better half, the woman who'll make him rethink about his priorities and put an end to his insecurities, Lady Regina Tremaine.

Review/recenzija: Monica McCarty: The Hawk/Sokol

Omg, just look at these torsos :P Never have I read about physical appearance more perfect than Highlander's, so it's only natural that I share that common affinity for novels that make it all about them.

In today's review I'm writing about the second novel in the Highland Guard series, The Hawk, by Monica McCarty. Why the second one and not the first? Well, because I didn't purchase the book, but found it in a library and the first novel was already out so I didn't have much choice.

Review/recenzija: Susan Elizabeth Phillips: Heroes Are My Weakness/ Slaba na heroje

Some say heroes are my weakness, but I say S.E.Phillips is my weakness. She's been one of my favorite authors since It had to be you- the first book of hers I've ever read. I was 15 at the time, and that book was the first romance novel I've read. Hormones were kicking in and I would cry countless times during one single chapter.  I should probably stop writing about those embarrassing moments right now...

Anyway... my love for Susan and her books survived until this day, so it's no wonder that I finally decided to write a review about one of her novels. Today we're talking/typing about Heroes are My Weakness (published in 2014).

četvrtak, 23. lipnja 2016.

Review/recenzija: Courtney Milan: The Duchess War/ Rat vojvotkinja

Lately I'm all about historical romance novels, did you notice? But, I don't hear anyone complaining so I'll just continue to enjoy them ;)
Today I'm writing about the novel The Duches War, the first one in the Brothers Sinister series. This novel is followed by: The Heiress Effect, The Countess Conspiracy and  The Suffragette Scandal.

What makes this novel and author different from the ones I have been writing about in the last few of my posts, is that both protagonists in The Duchess Wars are fighting for so much more than just their happy ending and self-determination.
When we're reading a historic romance novel, we're normally given an insight into the social context where our protagonist are meant to survive and act. The same society watches every step they make, allowing the men with title significant freedom in every aspect of their lives, whilst the women get to be subdued. Among others, that is probably one of the reasons women are usually main characters- they need more courage and luck to achieve their goal, whatever it may be. If the woman, after all the struggle, succeeds and in the process finds the love of her life, we see her as a heroine and a winner over the general injustice.

Review/recenzija: Nashoda Rose: Perfect Ruin

I was given the copy of this book by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

You want to read this!!!
Sorry for me screaming like a maniac, but this book is really something!

Perfect Ruin is the second novel in the Unyielding series. It's prequel, and the first book in the mentioned series is Perfect Chaos, which I didn't get the chance to read. Yet!
The third book in a series, Perfect Rage, is yet to be published.

četvrtak, 9. lipnja 2016.

Review/recenzija: Kresley Cole: The Captain of All Pleasures/Kapetan svih užitaka

A few years back, I was looking for some new fantasy-Edward Cullen-like- fiction  and somehow came across Immortal after Dark series by Kresley Cole. Okay, I can hear you screaming in your head about how Immortals are nothing like Twilight. You're right, but in some way they both ended up on that list I found online and today I'm glad they did. Immortal after Dark became one of my favorite book series ever!

But today's review is not about those sexy demons/vampires/valkyries... It's about the first novel Kresley Cole ever wrote, The Captain of All Pleasures. This book has recently been translated to Croatian and I was so happy to find it in our libraries! This historical romance is a must read, as are all that came after it.

Review/recenzija: J.R.Ward: The Bourbon Kings/Kraljevi Burbona

Let's start with a word of an author. J.R.Ward describes her The Bourboun Kings series as The Bourbon Kings is my love letter to my adopted home state, and a cautionary tale of big money, traditional values, and hidden sins”.

So if among you are those who have not yet came across her books, it's time for you to meet this outstanding author. The Bourbon Kings is her first novel in a mentioned series, and we're already waiting for the second one, The Angels' Share, to be published in July 2016. For those of you who already know her through one of her series, such as Black Dagger Brotherhood or  Fallen Angels, get ready for another hit.

četvrtak, 26. svibnja 2016.

Review/recenzija: Anna Campbell: Seven Nights in a Rogue's Bed/Sedam noći u olujnom zamku

This will be a short review of a sweet historical romance novel. Two weeks ago I was reading Sabrina Jeffries, and her novel really made me want to find another author of the historical novels written in the last decade.

My search ended after finding Anna Campbell, and I decided on reading the first novel in her Sons of Sin series. Seven Nights in Rogue's Bed is a novel followed by A Rake's Midnight Kiss, What a Duke Wants and A Scoundrel by Moonlight.

Review/recenzija: Susan Ee: Angelfall/ Pad anđela

"And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their proper dwelling—these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day." (Jude, 1:6)

I'm usually very skeptical towards books involving angels, because I really didn't have great experience with that kind of novels. The ones I've read, were written poorly and by my opinion, for younger readers (under 20 years old, maybe even under 18!).

Angellfall is nothing like those novels! It's the first book in Penryn & the End of Days series by the author Susan Ee and it's followed by two other sequels: World After and End of Days.

četvrtak, 12. svibnja 2016.

Review/recenzija: Sabrina Jeffries: In the Prince's Bed/Kraljevsko bratstvo- U prinčevoj postelji

A few days ago I was going through my posts and saw an unforgivable thing: it has been almost a year since I wrote the last review of some historic romance novel. A year! Now, I don't consider myself as a romantic, but now and then I do need to fulfil my need for some mighty prince charming.

As it is, the male protagonist in the novel In the Prince's Bed is a prince's son. The novel is a first one in Royal Brotherhood series, followed by the novels To Pleasure a Prince and One Night with a Prince.

Review/recenzija: Ally Condie: Matched/Spojeni

Wow, this book was actually written in 2010, and it does have two sequels, but the reason I'm reviewing it today is that it has recently been translated to Croatian. If you have already read it (or the whole trilogy), be sure to let us know how do you feel about it.

So, to finally start with the good thing. The novel Matched is the first one in Matched trilogy by  Ally Condie. It's followed by novels Crossed and Reached, which I personally intend to read and review ASAP.

Review/recenzija: A.Star: Wish for Me

ARC provided by the publisher Xpresso Book Tours via NetGalley for an honest review.

I read this book in one afternoon and that’s because it’s irresistible. I find novels about Djinn mystical and special in a way I can't seem to descibe, so I can never resist them, and Wish for Me is one of my new favorites! The book is the first one in The Djinn Order series, and until today only one other sequel was published (Dream of Me). The third part is to be published in August 2016.
Genre: Romance, Sci Fi, Fantasy

The world the authors lead us into is magical and full of surprises. There are literally more than one moment when I thought about how I did not see that happen! It was amazing!

Review/recenzija: Samantha Young: Echoes of Scotland Street/ Scotland Street

Do you like Samantha Young as much as I do? A few years back I read her The Fire Spirit Series and couldn't resist her work anymore. After some short research I found out about On Dublin Street series and from that day on I became a loyal follower of her writing.
Today I'm reviewing the fifth novel in On Dublin Street series, Echoes of Scotland Street. The book was published in 2014, and it's followed by the sixth and final novel in this series, Moonlight on Nightingale Way.

Do you remember Cole Walker? We met him in previous novels and most of you probably wondered what happened to that boy. Did he grow up? Would we even be reading his story?
Luckily for us, the answer to that question is yes

It has magic, supernatural beings, friendship, danger, beginning of a love story...in short, it has everything I need to truly like it. So naturally, I wanted to read it. And badly!
