Review/recenzija: Susan Elizabeth Phillips: Heroes Are My Weakness/ Slaba na heroje

Some say heroes are my weakness, but I say S.E.Phillips is my weakness. She's been one of my favorite authors since It had to be you- the first book of hers I've ever read. I was 15 at the time, and that book was the first romance novel I've read. Hormones were kicking in and I would cry countless times during one single chapter.  I should probably stop writing about those embarrassing moments right now...

Anyway... my love for Susan and her books survived until this day, so it's no wonder that I finally decided to write a review about one of her novels. Today we're talking/typing about Heroes are My Weakness (published in 2014).

Review/recenzija: Courtney Milan: The Duchess War/ Rat vojvotkinja

Lately I'm all about historical romance novels, did you notice? But, I don't hear anyone complaining so I'll just continue to enjoy them ;)
Today I'm writing about the novel The Duches War, the first one in the Brothers Sinister series. This novel is followed by: The Heiress Effect, The Countess Conspiracy and  The Suffragette Scandal.

What makes this novel and author different from the ones I have been writing about in the last few of my posts, is that both protagonists in The Duchess Wars are fighting for so much more than just their happy ending and self-determination.
When we're reading a historic romance novel, we're normally given an insight into the social context where our protagonist are meant to survive and act. The same society watches every step they make, allowing the men with title significant freedom in every aspect of their lives, whilst the women get to be subdued. Among others, that is probably one of the reasons women are usually main characters- they need more courage and luck to achieve their goal, whatever it may be. If the woman, after all the struggle, succeeds and in the process finds the love of her life, we see her as a heroine and a winner over the general injustice.

Review/recenzija: Nashoda Rose: Perfect Ruin

I was given the copy of this book by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

You want to read this!!!
Sorry for me screaming like a maniac, but this book is really something!

Perfect Ruin is the second novel in the Unyielding series. It's prequel, and the first book in the mentioned series is Perfect Chaos, which I didn't get the chance to read. Yet!
The third book in a series, Perfect Rage, is yet to be published.

Review/recenzija: Kresley Cole: The Captain of All Pleasures/Kapetan svih užitaka

A few years back, I was looking for some new fantasy-Edward Cullen-like- fiction  and somehow came across Immortal after Dark series by Kresley Cole. Okay, I can hear you screaming in your head about how Immortals are nothing like Twilight. You're right, but in some way they both ended up on that list I found online and today I'm glad they did. Immortal after Dark became one of my favorite book series ever!

But today's review is not about those sexy demons/vampires/valkyries... It's about the first novel Kresley Cole ever wrote, The Captain of All Pleasures. This book has recently been translated to Croatian and I was so happy to find it in our libraries! This historical romance is a must read, as are all that came after it.

Review/recenzija: J.R.Ward: The Bourbon Kings/Kraljevi Burbona

Let's start with a word of an author. J.R.Ward describes her The Bourboun Kings series as The Bourbon Kings is my love letter to my adopted home state, and a cautionary tale of big money, traditional values, and hidden sins”.

So if among you are those who have not yet came across her books, it's time for you to meet this outstanding author. The Bourbon Kings is her first novel in a mentioned series, and we're already waiting for the second one, The Angels' Share, to be published in July 2016. For those of you who already know her through one of her series, such as Black Dagger Brotherhood or  Fallen Angels, get ready for another hit.
