Review/recenzija: Karina Halle: The Pact, The Offer, The Play

Last November, when The Play was finally published, I couldn't enter my Instagram account without seeing at least 10 posts about the mentioned novel, or it's two prequels. The comments beneath those posts were mostly positive, some girls were even amazed by the sexiness of some of the characters, etc.

Naturaly, I wanted to see the books for myself and decided to write a word or two about them.

So the books I'm presenting today are: The Pact, The Offer, The Play, plus one novella, Winter Wishes.

Once more, here we have a group of friends who hide some interesting emotional secrets. In the first novel, The Pact, two best friends, Linden and Steph, both in their mid-twenties, make a pact. If neither one of them are in a serious relationship by the time they hit thirty, they are going to marry each other.

Years go by, relationships die, and friendship remains.
Until that day that they're finally both thirty and single.
Will one friend marry another?

She has seen it all. As a single mother, Nicola knows men and their intentions. So when her life hits the bottom and the solution is offered by a sexy Scotsman who doesn't even know her that well, she has every right to be suspicious.
But it's not about her anymore, so to be able to give her daughter a life she deserves, Nicola says yes to The Offer, one that will change both of their lives.
But only if Bram can find redemption for the sins he's committed a long time go.

Kayla is a wild girl and Lachlan is everything but that. Or so it seems.

She finds it annoying that he doesn't even notice her, while all she can think about is having him in his bed. Or anywhere else for that matter.
But a mysterious Scotman has his reasons to keep for himself, so Kayla has to find a way to make him see that she is worth his time and affection. It will be The Play of hearts and bravery.

Normally, when I read a book series that include various protagonists, I can't stop myself from having a favorite. This time the same thing happened and I have to admit that Kayla and Lachlan were my dearest couple. As the wildest, the sexiest and the most turbulent of the three, they made me feel the most.
The novel that impressed me the least was The Pact. It was pretty predictable and that made it a bit boring.
The Offer is a perfect balance between the first and the last, evenly sweet and sour, and most credible of the three.

Another thing a have to mention here. These obviously are romance/erotic novels, and they include sexual content and scenes, as it should be. But what I didn't like about these novels is that all the characters think and talk about sex all the time. They make it a hobby, a reason to get up in the morning and the therapy for every problem they have. After a few pages of constant dialogues about how somebody should have sex to solve their problems or kill the boredom, it starts to lose its edge. Don't get me wrong, sex is fun and everything, but people, there are more things in this world to do than spread your legs on every opportunity one gets. That's the thing the author should've showed us, and that's what her characters lack- and it makes them shallow.

So, to prevent it from sounding like I didn't like these books, because I did and very much, I'm going to suggest that you read it, create your own opinion, and let me know!

Until then, kiss from Rose :*

Knjige o kojima danas pišem su: The PactThe OfferThe Play, i jedna novela, Winter Wishes.

Godine prolaze i trenutak napokon dođe, dočekavši ih oboje i dalje bez partnera.

Bit će to jedna vrlo komplicirana igra (The Play).
