Review: Emma Chase: Getting Schooled

"Looking back now, I should’ve known it was too good to be true."
(Getting Schooled by Emma Chase)

I admit.
I totally went and purchased this book because of the hot guy on the covers. Yes, I did. Can you blame me? A few months ago, after hearing Emma Chase has published a book about two naughty teachers, I knew sooner or later I had to read it. But then, after actually looking at the covers, it was all about reading it as soon as possible. The blessed moment has come a few days ago – and boy, wasn't I happy!
Getting Schooled
is the first novel in Getting Some book series, soon to be your favorite book series ever.

The former high school star quarterback is now a teacher and a football coach, more popular and loved than everGarrett Daniels has made his dream come true. His life is full of victories and fun moments.
Then Callie comes home.
She was his first love. And the last girl he will ever want. But Callie has a life in another city, a career and new friends. But after she starts teaching, and the two of them find themselves in the halls of a school they once fell in love, old feelings will start coming back.
Two teachers will have to learn how to balance between teenagers getting out of control, new projects they have put their hearts into and their own crazy feelings.

Attention, teachers, school personnel, and any other good soul thinking about working in a noble profession of educating young minds:
please, read this novel.
I cannot even describe how heartwarming this book is. And I'm not even talking about sweet, beautiful romance, because there is so much more we can get by reading Getting Schooled.
This novel will bring all of your old memories back to life. As adults, we sometimes forget how it felt to be a kid. And as adults, we can finaly appreciate how much we owe to the people that have raised us and spend years trying to teach us not just how to be smarter and wiser, but also how to be a better person.
Teachers, this one is for you!
This is for all of those times you knew we were wrong, but couldn't protect us from making our mistakes. We now know it was hard to look at us making those, it sometimes felt like you were helpless, but it wasn't your foult.

"Our job isn't to protect them from their own dumb choices; it's to teach them to make better ones. Teach them how not to be a screw-up in a screwed up world."

Garrett and Callie are two people, two teachers, who have learned to understand the responsibility that comes with being a role model. They've developed an understanding of the problems young people face, they accept the humor

"These kids aren't like us; they'll never be us. They're more like...young Lex Luthors. They've never known a world without the internet. Email. Text messaging. Social media. Likes and views are king, bullying dickheads are inescapable, and genuine social interaction can be almost completely avoided. It makes them really fucking smart technologically and really fucking stupid emotionally."

But being the part of the lives of so many children didn't only thought them how to be better at what they do, it also made them realize that in part they still are those kids. Garrett and Callie are the part of the bunch, the children are not only their students, they're their family.
And that is the real joy of teaching, of dedicating our lives to raising generations and generations of young people: knowing we will be part of their lives forever.

Coming in 2019 is the second book in this series, title yet unknown. Until then, and if you ever feel nostalgic, open up some of your old photo albums, make a cup of coffee and take this book to bed with you. This novel will remind you of some of the best moments you've ever lived.
